Jehovah Jireh means "God will provide." It is a sentiment that believers have clung to for generations. God has promised again and again through His Word to provide for our needs.

Jesus called us to be His hands and feet in fulfilling this promise. In Matthew 25 He tells us "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Who were the "least" he mentioned --those in need! The sick, the hungry, the thirsty, the prisoner, the stranger, the ones with no clothing.

We in Frederick have decided to take up Jesus' challenge to give to the poor and needy. What we decided upon was what we call "Jehovah Jireh", a ministry to help those in need. Specifically, Jehovah Jireh is for those who have nothing and need help getting back on their feet. Those who have lost a home to fire or flood, those who are in a shelter for protection, and those who have no place to go. Jehovah Jireh helps by providing the basic necessities for living -- basic furniture, plates, silverware, sheets, etc.
